We were brought on board with this project at a late stage, with conditions that were unfavourable for planting. Our brief was to create a scheme for the entrance promenade, which would create a stronger sense of arrival for the development. The challenge was that the majority of hard landscaping was done, and no depth of soil available.
Our solution was to design and build custom built planter boxes outside all housing units, creating the depth of soil to allow us to incorporate a high quantity of planting. We repeatedly used birch trees to create a consistency and used a large variety of shrubs and perennials to add big impact in texture and colour that effectively softens the arrival to Parkside.
